WHAT WE OFFER

  • Site planning and design services are offered for small and large landscapes, whether you have a half acre or 100+ acres, country or city setting, investing in site master planning services is how we create our road map for a cohesive landscape.

The design process hones in on your landscape's sense of place. The planning exercise can encompass an entire site, or focus on one particular area. Wolf Tree investigates a site's existing and future uses, from where a home or structure sits on the land, to consideration of views and accessibility, vehicular and pedestrian flow, the design of outdoor rooms, gardens and other spatial relationships.

Our work complements Earth’s rhythms—it’s innovative and contextual. Sustainability and sensibility, for the land and our clients, are at the forefront of our creative process.

We strive to work with local materials and native plants whenever possible. Our team tunes into a site’s condition and our clients’ goals to create a design that is not only beautiful but also functional.

We take pride in understanding our clients’ specific needs and budget. Whether you’re looking for a design to phase in over the years, or to enhance your garden now through a well-thought-out planting design exercise, we have the skillset to bring your vision to life.

  • We love to design ornamental gardens, whether their structure is formal or informal. These types of gardens have their place in our landscapes and lives. Restoration projects, for us, are projects that focus on addressing the tracks of land that seem just a bit unwieldy. With time, and a bit of patience, we can work with you to build a strategy to effectively manage these areas and restore them to a state that is manageable and pleasing to the eye.

The goal with this type of work is restoring habitat by removing invasive plant species so native plants, pollinators and birds can flourish. The approach for this is fluid. There is no one-size-fits-all answer, as each site is unique. This type of work may call upon the need for collaboration between allied professionals for the best result.

OUR PROCESS

  • A typical project begins with an existing conditions inventory. Using the survey provided by you, we will visit the site to inventory your property conditions in order to develop an accurate base plan and a thorough understanding of your site, its assets and challenges. We walk the site, or project area, to understand the land, its character, resources and viewsheds.

We develop a site program (a written narrative and iterative document) of the site elements you’d like to include in your landscape design. This allows us to understand your goals and aspirations.

  • The schematic plan explores forms, volumes and functions and relationships of the space(s).

  • After the schematic design process, we move into Design Development—choosing materials, honing in on details and plant selection.

  • We provide Construction Documents that detail every aspect of the project from planting, preparation and layout of paving, walls and more.

  • Construction Project Management is one of our favorite aspects. We take pride in the relationships we have built, and continue to build, with local contractors, allied professionals and artisans. We coordinate closely with your project team to ensure the project is on track and executed with quality and attention to detail.
